DeSoto Aquatics is the real deal. We've visited three different fish stores in Memphis and left disappointed every time — cloudy tanks, stressed fish, the usual. DeSoto is a completely different experience. The water in every tank is crystal clear and the fish are genuinely healthy and active. You can tell the guy running this place actually cares about what he's doing. It's not just a store, it's a well-maintained collection. If you're serious about your aquarium, skip the big-box stores and make the drive to Southaven. Worth every minute.

Great service. They special ordered the type of fish I wanted. A week later they messaged me the fish had arrived, I picked them up and they were in great condition.

We recently put in a 125 gallon pond in our flower bed and was interested in either Koi or Goldfish. Called the number listed for this location. Spoke with a guy that specifically told us to come in the following Wednesday because they would have more Koi fish options instead of just the 1 they currently had. They also advised us they had some rocks for the bottom perfect for Koi. We wait and show up Wednesday. The guy there tells us he has only 1 Koi, they are not ordering anymore, they don't have the rocks we need, and they don't have a phone so they don't know who we talked to. To top it off though, the guy started mouthing he "don't know why you are getting upset" when someone is obviously lying. Do not waste your effort. According to that guy, "you won't find anywhere else to go," but we had success at a Memphis store. Just go there.

Visited today with my sister while looking into starting our first fish tank. Unfortunately, the experience felt very unwelcoming. We were the only people in the store at the time, yet we were there for several minutes before being acknowledged. When we did interact, the responses were very brief and not very helpful (for example, just saying “no” when we asked about certain fish, without any explanation or alternatives). The space is small, and at one point the employee walked directly through where we were standing instead of going around, and we had to quickly move out of his way, which felt uncomfortable. Toward the end of our visit, we were asked to leave around 4:50 even though the posted closing time is 6:00, with no explanation. We came in just to look and learn since we’re new to the hobby and planned to come back to purchase later, but the overall atmosphere made us feel unwelcome. Hoping this was just an off day, but wanted to share our experience.

To step into this place, is like stepping into a marine life museum. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I was absolutely mesmerized by the owners tank setups. After getting information on making the swap from freshwater to salt, I will definitely drive the 60 miles to stock my tank from this store! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! ☆☆☆☆☆☆
